Health Insurance

Health insurance is a product that covers your medical expenses. Like auto insurance covers your car if you get into an accident, health insurance covers you if you get sick or injured. Health insurance also covers preventive care.

There is only time of year to shop for a new health insurance plan. This is called the open enrollment period. In special circumstances, you may qualify for a special enrollment period. Federal open enrollment for 2022 starts on November 1st, 2021 and ends on December 15, 2021. Coverage starts on January 1, 2022.

As set by the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, these factors affect your premium:

1. Your age and family members age

2. Your location

3. Your household income

4. Your plan category (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Catastrophic)
